Sudden Changes

Nathaniel is doing wonderful! He is now up to thirteen and a half pounds. He is such a sweet and contented little boy. The feeding tube has been totally ruled out by the ENT and GI specialists. They were both amazed at his progress. We recently had a MRI done of his kidneys and rectum and have an appointment scheduled next week to get the results of that test. Also, we will be scheduling the first of 4 surgeries to correct the problems with his little bottom. I am finally feeling comfortable and capable of taking care of him and his special needs. He really is a wonderful little man!

Of course now that things are going so well with Nathaniel, other challenges have arisen!
Have you ever noticed that just when you feel comfortable in life, something comes to shake up your comfort zone? We have had a great deal of shaking going on in the Lopez household.

A few weeks ago, Robert began to have blurred vision, dry mouth, and frequent trips to the bathroom. These are all symptoms of diabetes. Last night we went to the doctor (we have a Dr. office in town that stays open until 8:00) to have his sugar checked. It was 469! That is getting into the dangerous level! He has been put on medication and of course has to change his diet. For all those of you who really know Robert, you understand that he needs a great deal of prayer. He has always eaten hamburgers and drank cokes. His diet is now drastically changing. I am glad that he will now be eating healthy, but I am sorry that it had to come to this to make him change. Keep him in your prayers.

I will update again soon.
