Exhaustion

Wow! This week has been exhausting. Good thing the Lord is our strength. I have to say that if I would have been relying on my own strength, I would not have made it. For those of you who are wondering how Nathaniel's surgery went, he did not have it done. It really was a blessing and I am very glad for doctors who are not afraid to cancel if they don't feel right.

We headed to the hospital Tuesday morning and Nathaniel began to run a small fever and cough. When we got to the hospital, I mentioned this to the nurse. She informed the doctor. When the doctor came in and heard Nathaniel cough, he called off the whole surgery. He explained that Nathaniel would be lying on his stomach for 8 hours with a breathing tube down his throat for the surgery. He said he did not feel comfortable with this because of his cough. He said that any complications with his breathing would cause him to wind up in the intensive care unit. He felt that we should just wait and reschedule. When we got home, Nathaniel became very sick. I was so thankful that the dr. had been honest and that Nathaniel had not had surgery. Robert and I have no doubt that things would have ended very badly and that the Lord kept that from happening.

I forgot to mention that the reason for my exhaustion is that my other four children had a stomach virus. Nathaniel obviously caught this from them. We did not know this when we took him to Scottish Rite for the surgery. Have you ever had five children sick at one time? Yikes! This is the first time all of my kids have been sick at one time. Robert is such an amazing husband though. He really has been a huge help. The kids are beginning to pull out of it now. Nathaniel is still pretty sick. Pray he recovers quickly. I will update everyone when we know when his surgery has been rescheduled for. Hope this post actually made sense because my brain hasn't worked well in a couple of days. :0)
