Surgery Has Begun

Nothing like Daddy's Arms

Well, we are up and running this morning. Things have gotten of to a pretty good start. They came and got Nathaniel at 7:55. He had fallen asleep in his daddy's arms. Robert just handed him over to the nurse and he never even woke up. Then they took him to the surgery room and gave him the anesthesia in a mask. After the anesthesia began to work then they did the IV and all of the blood work. So, he never felt any sticks.

First his urologist did a scope of his urinary track. Everything looks good with his kidneys and bladder. Then he came and talked to us about the repair that needed to be scheduled for a different day. It will take two surgeries to repair is urinary track. The first surgery will also involve a skin graft. These surgeries will take place at a later date. Possibly in three months or so.

Next it was time for the MRI guys to do their thing. This took about two hours.

Finally the surgeon began the rectal reconstruction about 45 mins ago. So even though Nathaniel has been in the operating room and under anesthesia for 4 hrs. now, the actual surgery has only just begun. We still have about 4 more hours to go. Keep us in your prayers! I will update every chance I get. I have to do something besides just sit and wait! :0)
