Yesterday was a very long day. I got up at 6:00 and got the kids ready for school. Then I dropped them off and headed to fill the van up with gas. Yes I did remember this time to check the gas hand. lol (check "Faith and Fumes" on earlier blogs, if you haven't read it). I filled the tires with air and headed to Lubbock. We got there at 12:45 Texas time. Texas is an hour ahead of New Mexico, so it was like having to drive 4 hours.
Nathaniel went through the first test pretty well. It was just an ultra sound of his kidneys. Other than the fact that he did not like the gel that they have to use, he did great. Test number two was a little bit of a challenge. There was some difficulty getting the catheter in. Now first of all let me say that people are only human after all. The smartest and most capable person can have an off day. I realize this. However, when it is your child screaming from the pain and discomfort, it is very hard to remember that. So in a very polite way, I let them know that I could do it for them. At this point, they had already called one of the doctors in to do it. He got it on the first try. By now, my precious little boy was inconsolable. The rest of the x ray process was very difficult.
We did eventually finish the tests and headed over to his doctor's office for the results. The Lord always knows what He is doing! I can't stress enough how God orchestrated us being seen by this new urologist. Dr Vordermark is wonderful and a definite God send! From the x-rays, he saw that Nathaniel's bowels were impacted. Now, I have to explain a little about having a child who has never had a regular bowel movement. Robert and I knew that Nathaniel had struggled some with constipation. We didn't realize how bad it actually was. It is very hard to determine how much of a bowel movement your child has had when they constantly have poop in there diaper. The only time I really became alarmed was if he went a day without having a poopy diaper. Anyway, the point is that we now have to see a pediatric surgeon and have his bowels straightened out before we can proceed with the hypospadias repair.
So, we are trying to get set up with the surgeon and solve this problem with his bowels. I know that God is faithful. Thanks for all your prayers. Thank you Lord for your mercy that is new every morning!
